Young gun Daniel Youl is now leading the 250gp four stroke class after round 3 of the Australian Superbike Championship at Queensland Raceway. Daniel said “ We didn't have the best day on the Thursday after missing 2 practice sessions; but it wasn't a total loss as this is my home track”. Craig Youl added “It was just one of those things, when the unexpected happens. We got back on track for the first qualifying sessions on the Friday.”
The 18 yr old has been fighting some demons at this track since last year after crashing at the very fast turn 2, that saw him spend a short stay in hospital. Daniel quickly put paid to that, after winning round 3a on the Saturday. “ I didn't qualify well at all, and that is something I have to work at. I started 2nd last on the grid out of 22, which was really disappointing. I finished 12th overall after a brilliant start in the combined group of 125gp/250gp 4 strokes and 3rd in the 250gp 4 stroke class.” said Daniel. Daniel had another awesome start in the second race, after some suspension changes that saw him take the win for his 250gp 4 stroke class and a placing of 10th for the combined class. This gave Daniel Youl a12 point lead over the Motologic factory rider.
With Daniel's confidence growing and his sheer determination to not let his lead slip away; he put in another gutsy effort to finish both races in round 3b in second place. Daniel finished consecutively in the combined class in 14th and 12th place. Daniel also in the last race for the weekend posted his fastest lap time of 1.21.903.
“I'm looking forward to the next round in August at Eastern Creek, Sydney” said Daniel. Up to now I've haven't had a great deal of track time. But with next round being a couple of months away, I'm looking at putting in as much time as possible” Daniel said
Daniel and Team Youl would like to thank Quantum Racing Industries, Lindsay Donai Motorcycles and a special thanks to
C P Pistons for all their support. |
